A day of fun in the sun and giving back. ☼
Last Sunday, Michael Stars returned for our fourth year sponsoring Children Mending Hearts’ annual summer fundraiser, Empathy Rocks.
Hosted at a private residence in Bel Air, guests joined to raise funds and support the work done by Children Mending Hearts. Special to the event every year, is an honors ceremony where certain individuals are presented with awards, honoring their dedication to the charity and their strive to make a positive impact on the world. This years honorees included Rowan Blanchard and Wilmer Valderrama.
All proceeds from the event benefit CMH’s education arts program which provides creative opportunities to economically disadvantaged children throughout Los Angeles to encourage empathy, compassion and social change.
Children Mending Hearts was founded in 2008 by Film Producer & Actress, Lysa Heslov.
Over the course of ten years, Children Mending Hearts has provided free art education programs to thousands of at-risk students in various schools throughout Los Angeles County as well as community organizations including the YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, Community in Schools, After School Allstars and Girl Scouts of America.
During the event, guests mingled over delicious bites, cool drinks and music. Provided by the sponsors were activities the whole family could enjoy, from face painting to tarot card reading.
Michael Stars held a do-it-yourself (DIY) station where kids selected their favorite pins and patches to personalize a T-shirt. Like CMH, we believe in the importance of self expression through arts — we were so honored to find the kids really enjoyed customizing their own T-shirt to take home. There wasn’t an empty seat at the table.
