Our partnership began after the recognition that both Michael Stars President, Suzanne Lerner and Step Up, at their core truly believed in the importance of mentorship and empowering young girls to become strong, smart and confident.
Last week, we were thrilled to join Step Up members & guests at our Santa Monica store for a shopping event, where 20% of proceeds would be donated by the Michael Stars Foundation, in support of Step Up and their mission to propel under-resourced communities to fulfill their potential.

“I know that I will need a lot of help from this program and the best part is that I am glad I have somebody else to help me with it.”
– Citallia, Step Up Teen
Twenty years ago Step Up started as a group of women who needed support, who needed a space to come and say “I am tired, and I don’t know why”…which involved into a space where mentorship mattered and after school programming was the heart of our organization. Similar to Michael Stars – where they started thirty years ago with comfort in mind, “I need something to make me feel good, make me feel warm” and soon later evolved into this luxury empire.
Together we have evolved and together we are continuing to grow.
We have to remember to reach back and pull up the next person to make sure that we really do create this space where the future leaders feel supported and have this amazing foundation.Lubna Hindi, Manager of External Relations & Individual Giving at Step Up
